Thorough evaluation of current mobility status
Review of past medical history
Collaborative discussion regarding goals for therapy
Balance, transfer training, and strengthening programs to decrease the likelihood of falls in patients with osteopenia, osteoporosis, or decreased muscle strength due to malnutrition
Introduction of low impact activities, like yoga or floor work, for patients being reintroduced to exercise (after discharge from a higher level of eating disorder care or with permission of a medical provider)
Increase or decrease of exercise recommendations based on the patient’s nutritional input and medical stability (I will request permission to communicate with the patient’s dietitian, medical provider, and therapist regarding information pertinent to safety and levels of movement)
Variety of core and/or extremity strengthening exercises to rehabilitate from an overuse injury
Gradual increase in exercise intensity with an emphasis on meaningful, flexible, and enjoyable movement
Encouragement of a wide variety of activities to decrease rigidity and improve physical, emotional, and mental health
Work together to create a realistic, non-intimidating, and achievable plan for incorporating movement into your life
Activities geared towards the improvement of coordination, balance, and functional mobility for anyone needing assistance to safely access one’s home, work, or community
